Zinc Anode

$14.95

A Zinc Anode will help to protect your JetStream from corrosion as well as increase its useful life. We recommend anodes be changed once per season, when white in color, or when more than 50% depleted.

Admiral’s Zinc Anode is made to protect your JetStream from galvanic corrosion and improve its longevity.

How does it work? Zinc anodes, oftentimes referred to as sacrificial anodes, give up their own electrons sooner than other metals that are in close contact with the anode, in essence, “sacrificing” themselves to protect other metals. In the case of the JetStream, this implies protection of the intake, bracket, and most importantly, the motor.

Installation is simple; just remove the original screw that held the anode (located at the end of the aluminum intake), put the new anode on the screw, and tighten, leaving the anode placed snugly against the outside end of the intake.

Depending on water quality, zinc anodes will have different reactions. As a rule of thumb, we recommend changing zinc anodes once per season or when the anode is visibly white or more than 50% deteriorated. Failure to replace an anode will not spell doom for your JetStream, but remember; though small and easily forgettable, zinc anodes are an important feature that will help to maximize your JetStream’s useful life and keep corrosion at bay.
